SPORT INVERCLYDE
GRANT AID SCHEME
GENERAL PRINCIPLES
1.
Each grant
application will be considered on merit, and the awarding of a grant, must
not under any circumstances, be assumed by the applicant.
2.
All grant
applicants will require to provide details of all other sources of financial
assistance which he/she is in receipt of, or which he/she has applied for,
from both statutory agencies and voluntary associations. Sport Inverclyde
may be able to advise on other sources of income. Grant applications will
not be considered from applicants who are in receipt of lottery funding.
3.
Sport Inverclyde’s
Grant Aid Scheme, aims to supplement rather than to replace voluntary
effort, and all applicants must show evidence of commitment and performance.
This is especially appropriate for those applying for grants for governing
body coaching courses.
4.
Sport Inverclyde
will distribute Grant Aid as appropriate to those affiliated clubs, who have
been affiliated for a period of more than six months, and to members of
clubs which are currently members of the Sports Council or exceptionally, if
no appropriate club exists in the area, applications will be accepted from
individuals.
Applicants must reside within the
Inverclyde area, for more than seven months of the year. Students whose home
address is in the area will qualify for Grant Aid.
5.
Applications for
Grant Aid will only be considered for future expenditure and evidence of
this expenditure will be sought if a grant is awarded. Normally no grant
application will be accepted for retrospective expenditure, except in the
case of overnight subsistence allowance when agreed payment will be refunded
on the production of a receipt.
6.
Sport Inverclyde
reserves the right to withdraw the offer of a grant, if the grant is not
used within six months of being awarded.
7.
Sport Inverclyde’s
Grant’s Sub – Committee will meet once each month, so grant applications may
be made at any time. Applications will be considered at the earliest
opportunity and the outcome will be communicated to the applicant as quickly
as possible. If for whatever reason a decision cannot be reached about an
application, then it will be considered for a second time at the next
Grant’s Sub – Committee meeting. Applicants will be advised if this happens.
8.
Grant Aid will not
be provided for general administration, routine maintenance or for personal
sports equipment.
9.
Individual Grant
Aid is not available to any applicant over the age of 35 and who are
considered to be in the ‘Masters’ competitive age category of their sport.
Applications will however be considered, by ‘Master’ sports’ applicants for
coach education courses, for the furtherance of their particular sport.
10.
In normal
circumstances, Grant Aid will be at the rate of no more than 50% of eligible
expenditure up to a maximum of £200 for clubs and individuals.
The combined total of Grant Aid awarded to
a club and its individual members will not exceed £500 in any one year.
