Sport Inverclyde is involved in encouraging and promoting participation sport and recreation throughout the Inverclyde area.

Sport Inverclyde is developing into a dynamic and successful local sports organisation with rapidly expanding membership.

Sport Inverclyde is primarily funded by Inverclyde Council who provide financial assistance towards annual expenses. Other income is sought through sponsorship from commercial sources and fundraising activities which allow Sport Inverclyde to achieve its aims of encouraging participation, improving performance and promoting the importance of sport and exercise.

Sport Inverclyde sport development and Come & Try activities have provided people of all ages with the opportunity to participate in a range of sporting activities.

Sport Inverclyde acts as the voice of sport in the Inverclyde area, providing an advisory role to individuals, clubs, organisations and to Inverclyde Council.

Additionally, as a member of the Scottish Association of Local Sports Councils (SALSC), Sport Inverclyde has the opportunity to voice and protect local interests at a national level.

The Sport Inverclyde executive committee is made up of a truly representative cross section of the wide variety of sporting interests in the Inverclyde area. These volunteers assist in the decision making process and disperse the available funds in a prudent manner.

Sport Inverclyde administers an extensive grant aid scheme, offering financial assistance to affiliated and talented members of these clubs.

The scheme operates under a number of headings such as club starter grants, coach education grants, equipment grants, coaching clinics and sports officials grants. Details of grants available can be obtained from the secretary or treasurer.

Sport Inverclyde feels that the coach education is essential in the development of sport, and it promotes coach education at all levels in conjunction with appropriate agencies. It offers grant aid to those wishing to undertake coaching courses, and encourages any enthusiastic sports people to develop to coaching level.

Affiliation to Sport Inverclyde is inexpensive and offers clubs and organisations and their members many benefits. Affiliation is open to any constituted club or organisation concerned in sport, based in Inverclyde.
